From the snowy winter landscapes and icy blue hues, to the wintry decor and holiday music, winter weddings are whimsical in every way imaginable. While there’s nothing wrong with the traditional red and green seasonal decor, there are several other festive colors and trends that you can use to spruce up your winter wedding.

Captivating Color Scheme

Gray + Dusty Blue

These cool tone hues are the perfect color combo to create a delicate wintery aesthetic. The dusty blue emulates the Christmas and holiday tones without being overly festive. If you want to feel like you’re walking through a dreamy winter wonderland, then this is your color scheme.

Chocolate Brown + Dark Wine

If you’re looking to bring some warmth to your frosty festivities, then try this deep chocolate brown and dark wine palette to add a pop of color and dimension. We love how these moody and earthy tones are able to create a subtle twist on the traditional holiday elements. If you love color but don’t want to go full red, then we suggest hues like burgundy, merlot, or crimson!

Dresses

Faux Fur

A Faux-Fur cape is the perfect way to layer up and keep yourself warm during your winter wedding. Faux-fur is cozy, chic, glamorous, and will not take away from the beauty of your dream dress.

Long Sleeves

If you’re like most Texans and you’re sensitive to the cooler temperatures, then long sleeves are an elegant way to add another stylish element to the dress that also keeps your warm. We love the look of this bride’s graceful lace sleeves.

Delightful Decor

Lighting

As we adjusted our clocks for daylight savings time, the days got darker much faster, so that means lighting at a winter wedding is of the utmost importance so that your guests aren’t dancing into each other.

If you’re having an outdoor reception, we recommend stringing lights around low lying limbs or in the table decor to create a perfect winter sparkle. If you’re having an indoor wedding, then we love the look of illuminated backdrops and uplighting.

Nature

Natural details like pinecones, birch logs, flowers, and greenery are perfect for creating the feel of an authentic winter wonderland forest. Some of our favorite flowers in season during the winter are camellias, gardenias, ranunculus, and roses.

Festive Food

Coffee + Hot Chocolate

Who doesn’t love a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate on a chilly winter day? Coffee and hot chocolate are seasonal favorites, and they will serve as the perfect warm treat after dinner. You can spice things up even further by adding toppings for people to choose from like marshmallows, cinnamon sticks, whipped cream, and caramel sauce just to name a few.

S’mores Kit

The coffee and hot chocolate would pair perfectly with a s’mores kit. S’mores are a crowd-pleasing dessert that kids and adults alike will love! Try offering a s’mores bar where your guests can build and customize their own, or offer them as a wedding favor that they can take home and enjoy later.
