The History of The Sanger Mansion
Since its inception in the early 1980s, the 27,000 square foot Sanger Mansion, located near Dallas, Texas, has mostly sat idle. Originally built by Joseph and Julie Powell, the nine-acre estate featured an alluring mansion and stables where the couple could pursue their passion – raising Appaloosa horses. However, construction was never fully completed and after illness, divorce, and bankruptcy crippled the couple, construction was halted by the mid-1980s.
To The Next
It wasn’t until 1999 that John W. Porter bought the property with the hopes of preserving the standout feature on the grounds, the stables. Eventually, his son, John R. Porter, inherited the expansive property and sought to make sure it would end up in the hands of the right people.
Future oF The All-Inclusive Event Venue
Now, over 30 years since the Sanger mansion was built, the property is under new ownership. Bella Mansions acquired the Sanger Mansion in 2019 with hopes of turning it into a premier wedding and event venue in Texas. The enchanted mansion includes grand indoor spaces, a full landscape for outdoor weddings, a beautiful vineyard, and will be an all-inclusive venue. Renovations are planned to be completed by the middle of 2021.
